Sony World Photography Awards - Open Competition


This competition is for photographers of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels. The judges of the competition are looking to award the best single images from across the 10 diverse categories. 

Categories: 
  • Architecture
  • Culture 
  • Enhanced
  • Motion
  • Landscape and Nature
  • Portraiture
  • Still Life
  • Street Photography
  • Travel Wildlife
In each category there will be 1 winner, up to 10 shortlisted photographers and up to 40 commended photographers. The closing date for the 2018 competition is 4th January 2018 at 13:00 GMT. 

Prizes:
  • Open Competition Winner - $5,000 (USD) / Sony digital imaging equipment / Flights and accommodation to the awards ceremony in London / Included in exhibition at Somerset House, London. 
  • Category winners - Sony digital imaging equipment / Publication in winners' book / Included in exhibition at Somerset House, London. 
  • Shortlist - Digital exhibition at Somerset House, London / Publication in winners' book.
  • Commended - Digital exhibition at Somerset House, London.
In addition to the main prizes, winning and shortlisted photographers will be included in a global press campaign, featured across the World Photography Organisation website and exhibited at Somerset House, London in Spring 2018. 

Competition #2

Shoot The Frame


Shoot The Frame is a set of monthly international photography competitions which is made to celebrate photography and expose talented photographers. It is open to all photographers wether professional or amateur.  

You enter the competition by uploading your images (maximum of 7), filling in some details about yourself and paying the required entry fee. The prices are in USD with 1 image costing $10, 3 images costing $15 and 7 images costing $19. The entrant must have reached the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence at the time of their entry and the contest is not open to any nation, state or province where prohibited or restricted by Australian, U.S. or local law.

Images that are uploaded should be in JPG format, preferably 1-4 MB and have no watermarks. Both colour and B+W images are allowed. 

The images are judged on overall beauty, power, creativity, skill and originality. The judging process will be blind so the photographer will remain anonymous to judges to ensure each contestant is judged solely on their images. Judging takes place at the beginning of every month. 

All finalists and winners will have their images published in the Shoot The Frame Gallery on the website.

Competion #1

Hull Beermat Photography Festival 


A new photography festival and competition showcasing Hull to develop photography skills within the region and turn traditional exhibition style on its head.

As part of the festival there is a competition you can take part in where your photo will be printed onto a beermat and put into selected Hull pubs.  The competition requires you to submit a photo which is taken in Hull & East Yorkshire to either Instagram, Twitter or Facebook with the hashtag #Hullphoto2017.  


The competition is free and opens on the 9th of September and winners will be announced on Wednesday 15th of November at 7pm by photographer Martin Parr at Kardomah94 (a bar/restaurant in Hull). 

Winning photographs will be printed on to beermats and placed in the following Hull pubs and venues until the end of December:
